Graduate Certificate in Museums and Communities
The graduate certificate in museums and communities within the American studies master’s program at Trinity is designed to respond to the growing role museums play in our culture as venues of mass entertainment and education.

| You can complete the certificate program in one year (two courses per semester) or two years (one course per semester) |
| Your total cost is $13,200 (excluding fees), based on 2023-24 tuition rates. |
| Submit your application by August 1 for fall start and December 15 for spring start. |
About the Program
Museums, archives, and the communities they serve have emerged as a major area of interest in the field of American studies and, perhaps more importantly, in the public culture of the United States. Americans and visitors to this country have come to see museums not as places for a small cultural elite but as venues of mass entertainment and education. Because of this increased attention, museums need larger staffs and volunteer corps and a broader understanding of their new roles in a changing cultural environment.

The Curriculum
The graduate certificate in Museums and Communities consists of four credits:
- Approaches to American Studies
- Museums, Visual Culture & Critical Theory
- Museums and Communities Internship
- One elective course

Trinity College to Offer State’s First Master’s in Urban Planning
Trinity College will begin offering Connecticut’s first Master of Arts Degree in Urban Planning in fall 2023. The program is aligned with Trinity’s mission to prepare bold, independent thinkers to lead transformative lives and take on some of the world’s biggest challenges.
